A Fresher Passover

  • Specialties Showroom 2800 11 Mile Road Berkley, MI 48072 (map)

Young adults are invited to join us on Saturday, April 13th, 8:00pm at Specialties Showroom in Berkley, as we put a fresh spin on Passover with the help of Susan Barocas, guest chef for three Obama White House seders!

Barocas will give a talk about her experiences in the White House kitchen, how she infused a Passover seder with fresh and innovative dishes, and how we can draw from Jewish cuisines around the world for inspiration. We'll then jump into a cooking demo with two versions of Haroset, and conclude with a hands-on dessert recipe!

Your $25 ticket includes a wine and dessert spread, in addition to the dessert we'll make together.
There will be samples throughout the cooking demo, but these are not meant to serve as a meal, so make sure to have dinner beforehand, and then join us for dessert!

Susan Barocas is a writer, chef, cooking instructor and documentary filmmaker. The founding director of the Jewish Food Experience, she was honored to serve as the guest chef for three White House Passover Seders hosted by the Obamas. She has made numerous speaking and broadcast appearances and has written for the Washington Post, Lilith and Moment magazines among others and is a member of the international culinary society Les Dames d’Escoffier.
