Hello. Shalom. Salam. Thanks for being here!

This is one of the most pressing and significant moments of our lifetime when it comes to the wellbeing and health of the Jewish people here in America, in Israel, and around the world. We are excited to evolve the classroom setting you may (or may not) have experienced in Sunday School and embrace this moment as an opportunity to learn and tell a more honest story about the history and memory of our people. This is an opportunity to connect with one another, to our story, and ourselves - which also makes it a mitzvah!

These are spaces for those who care about Israel, those who support Palestine, those who are heartbroken about unnecessary loss of life, those who are concerned about anti-Semitism, and those who are eager to share big dreams. We are building spaces to hold complexity, nuance, and empathy, and to ask and sharpen your questions. At The Well we believe that your relationship to Israel is not a litmus test for the validity of your Jewish identity.

We might not know how this moment of conflict of many fronts will all play out, but we know the right first step is to learn and that is a path worth pursuing. As our tradition teaches: “What is greater? Study or action? The Rabbis teach us: ‘Study is greater, for it leads to action.’” (Kiddushin 40b)

Sound like you? Yallah, let’s go!

There are two opportunities we’d like to share at this time:

Small Groups with The Shalom Hartman Institute

The Shalom Hartman Institute, together with several community leaders and rabbis, are working on developing small-group learning pods. These pods will allow an intimate cohort of participants to learn and discuss a future of Liberal Zionism together, with guidance and facilitation from a community rabbi or Jewish educator. Pods will meet over the course of several weeks, beginning in the late summer or early fall. Program specifics are still in development, and we’re excited to see how it unfolds! If you’re interested in being kept in the loop as this program comes into formation, please fill out an application and/or nomination below.

Additional Programming at The Well

Over the years, The Well has facilitated several different styles of learning opportunities. While we have lots of ideas in mind, we’d like to hear from our community about what kinds of conversations you’re most interested in having. Please submit the anonymous form below to share your interests and hopes for what this might look like!
