At ShavuART, participants will visit two hands-on art workshops, learning new crafts from peer artists while being inspired by the artists’ self expressions and unique styles.

We are excited to feature four amazing artists this year with a diverse range of styles. Learn more about them and their workshops below (presented in alphabetical order), and grab your tickets for ShavuART here.

Taylor Beardsall: Strength Sticks

Using art therapy techniques, create a unique work of art while reflecting on yourself, your identity, and areas of desired growth. This process allows for a sense of meditative well-being and self awareness. In this workshop, the focus will be on the process and symbolism while creating. You will leave this workshop with a meaningful and dynamic art piece to remind you of your strength.

Taylor Beardsall is a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), Certified Life Coach, and Yoga Teacher (RYT-200, Certified YogaCalm Youth Instructor, YogaMedics Certified). She provides creative mind-body services for individuals, groups, and organizations. Through these expressive approaches, Taylor supports clients in working through difficult emotions, gaining clarity, self-discovery, and creating actionable steps toward goals. She accompanies participants as a non-judgmental, fully present, and supportive facilitator on their journey of using art-making and movement for healing. Taylor is a founder and art therapist at Solstice Healing Arts Collective, an expressive arts therapies studio in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Steffany Ellenstein: Foundations of Crochet

In this workshop, Steffany will guide participants through making a simple crochet square. The goal of this is to help learn and practice a few basic stitches: the chain stitch and the single crochet stitch. These skills can be built upon to create all kinds of other things, from blankets, to sweaters, to cats in pumpkins!

Steffany is an engineer by day, and a fiber artist by night. Her favorite craft is crochet, which she learned to do as a hobby during the pandemic. She currently lives in West Bloomfield with her boyfriend and cat who both support her love of yarn.

Yevgeniya Gazman: Turning your Art into Custom Products

In this workshop, Yevgeniya will lead the group in creating a simple art piece based on a word or name. Emphasizing simplicity and a spiritual connection to art, this is a very low stress workshop so people can recognize the artist within themselves and feel empowered to create. Towards the end of the session, she will introduce the group to Printful, where they can use their new artwork to order custom products as gifts or for themselves in the future.

Yevgeniya Gazman is the founder and creative force behind YGazm Art, LLC. The motto of her company is Good Through Art Together. Yevgeniya turns her art into products ranging from yoga pants to tote bags. She is always on the lookout for opportunities to use her artistic talents to support value-aligned causes and organizations.

Jacob Smith: Getting Lost in a Maze

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to draw mazes that baffle and delight! We'll explore what makes mazes tricky and how to make them pop, plus add a dash of maze art history for good measure.

Jacob Evan Smith is a Detroit-based connector, community organizer, and visual artist. His art practice is rooted in interactive design that invites adults to play. His work has been featured at several local galleries, including 46 Gallery in Pontiac and Disco Walls in Hamtramck. Several of his illustrations were published in the book "Tear Drops and Balloons" by singer/songwriter Mike Posner.
